OCF Planter and Trellis

IMG_2438.jpg

Design and Planning:

Our City Forest and I discussed issues and needs for their Education Center. One issue was a lack of shade next to one of their shade structures in the early morning, when field trips and volunteers frequented the location. To solve this, we discussed a planter box and trellis to both provide shade and allow for more plants in the area. The design was created using Fusion 360 and was approved by both OCF and the SVMB Council.

Construction:

Without power on-site, I made the decision to build the full "skeleton" of the trellis and planter at home, and transport it on the back of a trailer to the site for attaching the side planks, wire mesh and staining/sealing the structure. Because of the lack of a miter saw on site, all planks had to be pre-cut and sent to the jobsite along with the trellis "skeleton".
